Kaspar Kaven was born in 1981 in Basel, Switzerland.
Raised near Munich, he discovered his passion for cinematography shortly after graduating from high school. He gained his first experiences in creating moving images at the Bavarian Academy for Television (BAF) and continued his studies in 2006, at the highly acclaimed University of Television and Film, Munich (HFF). During his studies he worked as a freelance camera assistant and cinematographer.
He started his professional career shooting feature-length documentaries and continued on with various fiction formats. Having worked on different sized productions, he feels at home with both small teams and light equipment as well as large sets with numerous cameras.
To date, Kaspar has shot several feature films for cinema and television, various commercials as well as music videos and is now internationally available as a DOP.
